Ben Roethlisberger Greeted By ‘Huge Cheers’

Well, so much for being scared and not knowing what to expect from the fans.

After reportedly taking the first snaps of the morning session with the first team offense — featuring Maurkice Pouncey and Flozell Adams on the right side of the line — Ben Roethlisberger was greeted by “huge cheers” on his way to the afternoon session according to Judy Battista of the New York Timesvia Twitter — while Steel City Insider’s Jim Wexell reported — also via Twitter — that not a boo was heard.

Jeff Pearlman certainly isn’t going to like that.

I have to admit, I’m kind of surprised, at least a little bit, by the initial reaction. Not just because of the nature of the off-field allegations, but also because of the on-field impact (a lengthy suspension). You had to think there would be somebody out there with some anger. Like this guy, for example.

I imagine the rainbows and lollipops will end once he throws his first incomplete pass. Then again, that would happen even if he wasn’t suspended for four-to-six games.
