A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation…

– Last week we learned about free safety Ryan Clark joining the world of Twitter. Now you can also follow strong safety Troy Polamalu, and it’s every bit as awesome and soft-spoken as you might imagine. Here’s an example that he sent to a fan that shared some art work with him: “Being able to convey your creative consciousness on canvas is a true talent. Thank you for sharing this gift with me.”

He also, at one point on Tuesday, simply posted a smiley face. Follow him, and follow him right now. [Twitter]

Michael Lombardi of NFL.com thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers are absolutely loaded with blue chip and red chip players. The only team that has more “value” in such players is the New Orleans Saints. I still have no idea what that means — if anything, really — but it sure sounds good. Doesn’t it? [NFL.com]

And for your random YouTube of the day: Merril Hoge rumbles for a 41-yard touchdown against the New England Patriots. I’m not going to lie: I absolutely love those Patriots uniforms. Bring them back. Hoge rushed for 117 yards on 19 carries, scoring two touchdowns, during the 24-3 win. Eric Green scored the other touchdown, hauling in a 14-yard pass from Bubby Brister.

I wish you guys had a place to dump some pointless random comments, such as this:

If Ramon Foster had been drafted in the third round (or any round, for that matter) by the Steelers last year, and Kraig Urbik signed as an UDFA, would Urbik still be on the team?
