Because we have time to scour the internet and you don’t…
3:40 p.m. WEX ANGRY. “Goodell’s worthless lawyer schlub pals now saying he was unclear with answers because of poor questions. Um, not this time. Crystal clear.” The most infuriating thing for me: the smug perma-smile plastered across Rog’s face.
3:30 p.m. Good buddy and Panthers fan (LET’S HEAR IT FOR JIMMY CLAUSEN! … BWAHAHAHA) Will Brinson previews the Steelers and the AFC North over on CBS. Please check it out.
2:30 p.m. Ken Laird talks to Trai Essex: “We’re incorporating DD as a RB in a lot of plays we already have installed, making them more of an option form… you have to account for both the QB and the RB running and passing. It seems to be working pretty well.” That’s one way to add some depth to the running game.
2:15 p.m. Just to reiterate that Ben will be out for at least the first month of the season (via PFT): “According to league spokesman Brian McCarthy, Goodell will not consider reducing Roethlisberger’s suspension below four games. He will consider whether to reduce the six-game suspension to four, which has been the plan all around.
The confusion likely came from Goodell not hearing the questions asked by a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter this morning. (Or just the odd nature of the question itself.) The paper says Goodell was asked twice whether it was possible for Roethlisberger’s suspension to dip below four games, and both times Goodell gave vague answers.”
12:00 p.m. Via Steelers Depot: “Steelers PR guy Dave Lockett confirmed with Commissioner Roger Goodell that indeed Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not have his suspension lowered less than 4 games.”
10:45 a.m. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell held a press conference in Latrobe this morning and this is what we learned (via Wex’s Twitter feed): “Goodell will announce terms of suspension at end of month. Worthless press conference.” In related news, Ted Kian just punched a wall.
