Peter King Predicts Steelers Will Win Super Bowl

Good news for the optimists in the audience! Peter King, the top NFL writer for Sports Illustrated, is predicting the Pittsburgh Steelers will defeat the Green Bay Packers in this year’s Super Bowl. Time to celebrate.

Bad news for the Debbie Downer‘s … Peter King’s recent preseason Super Bowl predictions don’t come true.

In this week’s NFL preview edition, King predicts the Steelers will beat the Packers by a 33-27 margin, taking home their seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy. But as the Post-Gazette‘s Ed Bouchette points out, King hasn’t correctly picked a Super Bowl winner since 1995 (maybe he’s due!), a trend that has some of us a little concerned.

His last four predictions were…

2009: Patriots over Bears

2008: Patriots over Cowboys

2007: Colts over Saints

2006: Cowboys over Colts

(I’m noticing a trend with those picks).

    This guy has picked the steelers season perfectly! They had one more win then he predicted but still. And he predicted the packers to represent the NFC. Let’s just hope the final score is correct, but even if it isn’t this man is still a miracle worker at picking games. Sort of like the octopus from the world cup lol

    Peter King, like most prognosticators, usually doesn’t accurately predict who the Super Bowl participants will be, let alone who will win. So Steeler fans citing his lack of accuracy in predicting winners in the pre-season over the years as a reason to be concerned this year is a little misguided. This year, way back in the summer, he picked both the Steelers and Packers to meet in the Super Bowl, although the path he predicted they would take to get to there is a little different. King also made some other dubious predictions for the 2010 season, like calling Carolina his surprise team and predicting a big year from Carson Palmer. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again, so maybe this is King’s year.
