How Important Is 3-0 For Steelers?

Chris Mack over at ESPN Radio 1250 has posted a very useful statistic. In the history of the franchise, no Steelers team that has started 3-0 has ever failed to make the playoffs.

That makes this weekend’s Bucs’ game even a little more interesting. Obviously the rest of the AFC North isn’t going to just concede the division if Pittsburgh is 3-0, but it clearly would ensure that Pittsburgh is at least tied for the division lead when Ben Roethlisberger returns.

All in all, it’s not a bad place to be after two weeks.

If I recall correctly, the last time the Steelers played the Bucccaneers in Tampa, they sacked Brad Johnson ten times and Lee Flowers memorably called them “paper champions.”

One of my favorite Steelers wins. That was a completely dominating performance by the offensive line.

Even if we go 2-2, the worst we can be is one game back in the AFCN when Ben returns.
