Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– In news that was expected, Byron Leftwich rejoined the Steelers on Monday. In news that wasn’t expected, Dennis Dixon is going to be out for quite some time which means it’s down to Byron, Charlie or … ha … Antwaan Randle El. So, who is it going to be in Tampa Bay on Sunday?

– More recaps from Sunday… The Steelers helped get in the way of Chris Johnson’s 2,500 yard pace. [DC Steeler Nation]

– Lucky Number Seven [One For The Other Thumb]

– Behind The Steel Curtain wraps up its countdown of the greatest non-Super Bowl wins in Steelers history. It’s not hard to figure out what this one is. [Behind The Steel Curtain]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: About eight years ago the Steelers realized that the song Renegade by Styx could get the Heinz Field crowd into a vocal frenzy, especially when accompanied by video of Steelers players delivering big hits. It’s become the team’s unofficial anthem, and here’s a video that somebody created.

Good morning….not sure if you guy’s follow #56 on Twitter…but he had a nice back and forth going with Chris Johnson last night – CJ called the Steelers fakes…even Snoop chimed in….good stuff….

Ryan, Adam and JJ: enjoyed your podcast recap of the game. One slight disagreement: you said most Steelers fans were pining after Revis in the 07 draft. I think this is more hindsight. At the time, I remember much more noise (at HSS, at least) about Carriker. Personally, I was pining for Willis to fall to us, but he went a few slots before. As last night showed once again, he’d look awfully good in black and gold.

I was on the Carriker bandwagon and the Levi Brown (the OT to Arizona) bandwagon. Both those guys have been busts.

I think that Timmons is now as good if not better than Willis. He won’t get as much media hype though.

And there isn’t any way that Batch or Leftwich make it through the game without being injured. Not behind the OL without Starks.

Should we sign Troy Smith? Added bonus: we have Baltimore in two weeks.

Cols, I agree. Juan has played great for the past two weeks.  However, Willis has been a Pro Bowler pretty much since the day he stepped on the field 3+ seasons ago. That said, Juan is more athletic and can be used in a variety of LeBeauvian ways, so he might be a more versatile contributor this season.

    ELSM,

Yep, I was on the Carriker bandwagon too, much more so than Revis. And I LOVED Willis (and Albert before that) but once it became clear that he was going to be off the board by 1.15 I readjusted expectations.

“LeBeauvian” is my word of the day.
