Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– So it appears that Charlie Batch is getting the start on Sunday. If it’s because Byron isn’t 100 percent ready to go, fine, whatever, that’s what you gotta do. But I just don’t see Batch as a better option if the two are both ready. Thoughts?

– The Ben Signal. [One For The Other Thumb]

– Skippy explains why he’s getting more distance on his kickoffs. Amazingly, it has nothing to do with the 150-degree temperatures. Speaking of heat, Casey Hampton welcomes it because, naturally, it allows his “quick-twitch muscles [to] function better.” [Tribune-Review]

– The secret to 3-0? Pickle Juice. Obviously. [Trib]

– James Harrison’s paycheck will be $5,000 lighter this week. [Post-Gazette]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: Rod Woodson was one fantastic kick/punt returner…

I don’t know why so many are so down on Batch. He knows how to string together long drives, is an accurate passer, makes smart decisions, etc. He may have looked rusty last wk but I think one week w/the starters will help.

Ryan Clark was looking for Coconut Water last night via Twitter – that’s all the rage in the NFL and among athletes right now – feel free to try some at your local Vitamin Shoppe – and yes it is loaded with electrolytes….and yes I have some in my fridge….

    ….but enough about me….

I like C Catch this weekend – let me re-phrase – I like Charlie after time with the first unit…he does throw a nice ball and he’s smart – won’t make that big mistake…..

    Plus he has Starks back…

I’m OK with Batch. Just remember how fragile he and Leftwich have been. We really aren’t that far from having ARE taking the snaps. At least it’d be entertaining.

Disqus is haloscanning… deleted an earlier comment of mine and wasn’t letting me post for awhile.

Yes, Disqus sucks today (and has for the past few days). I’m tempted to just use the WordPress commenting system, which seems perfectly fine. Anybody have any thoughts either way?

No opinion from my end, I don’t know enough to give a preference.

In my previous comment I was basically saying that based on Lolley’s latest post, he seems to be implying that the Steelers might be trying to mislead the Bucs in their indication that Batch will start.

This has more do do with yesterday’s Morning Links thread.. Does anyone remember the t-shirt the Jack Lambert wore during a post-game interview back in the day? It said something vulgar, but I can’t remember what it was.. Pretty sure I didn’t give enough details for anyone to figure that out, but if you do, let me know.

      I remembered.. “I’m a F***ing Maniac” lol

FO reports that Kellen Winslow has eight third down receptions, but only five actually made first downs. Sounds to me like he is not doing well.

i don’t think leftwich was even on the injury report yesterday, but i don’t believe he’s 100%. read some comment from him about just trying to get used to this big knee brace he has to wear now. i think he will get back in the swing of things this week and start next week (barring an awesome performance by batch this week).
