Steelers vs. Panthers: Preseason Game 4 (Morning Links and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

Consider this your morning links, daily thread and game thread all wrapped up into one. Your question of the day is a simple one: Which player has the most to lose (and also which player has the most to gain) tonight?

The other day I mentioned Lawrence Timmons as a player that’s impressed me this preseason, and here’s a video showing some of the versatility he’s displayed. The guys at Post Game Heroes always do a fantastic job with this stuff. I really think Lawrence Timmons can be everything that Kendrell Bell would have been had it not been for the never-ending string of injuries. [Post Game Heroes]

Make sure you take a look at JJ’s Steelers preview over at our other stomping grounds. He also previewed the other AFC North teams, so check them out as well. [FanHouse]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: It’s the only Steelers vs. Panthers clip I could find, and it’s a classic. In an infamous sort of way…

Won’t be able to watch this one. Which is fine, the 4h game is always sucky. Go Buckeyes tonight!!

  • Johnny_S

Wow, was that LeBeau laying into him?

  • http://www.steelerslounge.com/ ryan

Yep. Only time I’ve ever seen LeBeau get anywhere near upset at somebody. And to think: there was a time when a lot of Steelers fans wanted Smith to start over Ryan Clark.

  • Cols714

I was one of them. I really thought Smith was the real deal. The Patriots game set me straight.

  • SteelerBill

This works out pretty well right? Steelers at 6:30 on the internet and Pitt at 7:30 on Versus (both times central)……..

I’m thinking Ben will play one two-minute/no huddle drill series and then give way to Leftwich for a series….then it’s ‘make an impression’ time for the young guy’s…..

  • RoB D

Anthony Smith..a lotta physical talent with no real understanding of the game. I think you could get away with that in earlier incarnations of the NFL but no longer..the smart guys rule. Polamalu beats people with his brain just as much (if not more) than his physical abilities.

I don’t get the game here tonight so I will probably be trying to watch some crappy feed of it on the series of tubes known as, so I am told. the “information superhighway”. Anyone ever hear of it? IF you find a decent feed, I would appreciate a holler.

Patrick Bailey kept those 3 points off the board for Carolina.

  • Randy Steele

Foote seems to have missed a lot of tackles this pre-season.

  • http://www.steelerslounge.com/ ryan

Well, if Byron’s really hurt I’ll go ahead and predict Chaz gets the nod in Week 1.

  • SteelerBill

Oh Dear God….Ben gets sacked in the first 3 plays and now Byron is hurt…worried? Who’s worried? TD from Dixon…ok….I’ll take it….

  • http://www.steelerslounge.com/ ryan

Ignoring possible Byron injury news, Stevenson Sylvester and Keenan Lewis shining. So that’s nice.

  • SteelerBill

Bryon out with a knee….Jonathan Scott with a knee……Oh Dear God

  • http://www.steelerslounge.com/ ryan

If nobody else gets killed, possible worst-case scenario: Byron and Scott are out for god knows how long and it means that Chaz and Urbik are on the right side of the final 53.

  • Randy Steele

Nah. I’ll betting on Omar Jacobs.

    Re: injuries

That’s what preseason is for. To dash your hopes before they get a chance to blossom.

  • Randy Steele

Question: Is Robo the leading tackler on Special Teams this pre-season?

  • http://www.steelerslounge.com/ ryan

    Randy,

I would laugh if I weren’t crying. And to answer your question: Yes.

(Actually, I have no idea, but it sure as hell seems that way.)
