Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– It’s Friday again, so let’s hear some predictions for Monday’s game in Cincinnati.

– You probably heard something about this on Thursday, but the NFL’s arbitrary fining process was in motion when James Harrison was given a $20,000 fine for his hit on Drew Brees. Predictably, a lot of people weren’t happy about it, including Ryan Clark. [Ryan Clark on Twitter]

– More James Harrison fine reaction. [One For The Other Thumb]

– Hey, check out Steelers Lounge Podcast #14. [US]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: I’m really not sure if I’ve used this one before, as it’s now starting to get hard to keep track, but here’s Kordell Stewart running for a touchdown.

You had done a different Kordell run earlier. Not this one.

    I almost forgot
    Steelers 28-14

They get an interception return for a TD by William Gay and Ben plays lights out after last Sunday’s thoroughly mediocre performance.

There was a discussion at FO of whether there are any statisticians on staff there. Aaron Schatz’s comment was, “Hi ho. I don’t think anybody at FO has ever claimed to be a trained statistician. Well, Ryan Wilson was an economist for the government, but other than him, no one has ever claimed to be a statistician.”

Rarely has one innocuous-looking sentence been packed with so much comedy gold, both intentional and unintentional. Ryan, you need some sort of title to encapsulate this… something like Professor Emeritus Excelsior, Former Chief Statistician of Football Outsiders.  http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2010/week-8-dvoa-ratings
