Steelers Lounge Podcast #15: Steelers-Bengals Recap — Thanks (for Nothing), Skippy!

The Steelers are 6-2. So there’s that (please ignore the fact that Pittsburgh was 6-2 last year, too, before the wheels fell off). Anyway, we’re talking about all that happened Monday night because, well, it’s a podcast.

Is it just me or did someone else notice that after the fumble recovery on the opening kickoff, Emmanuel Sanders gave the first down signal going in the wrong direction? I said to myself that it’s good he didn’t recover the fumble as he might have gone the wrong way with it.

Every one of the four seasons in the Mike Tomlin era started out 6-2.

Gene Collier of the PP-G practically hurts himself criticizing the Steelers’ offensive play-calling in the 4th quarter last night, including the Randle-El TD pass (which worked of course, however fortunately). Seriously, Gene? Were you paying attention to how we blew all those leads last season? Ben’s INT was a relatively easy pass that would have practically clinched the game, but Ben choked on it (by his own admission). This was followed by a classic productive run-heavy drive that was wasted by Reed’s missed FG. I don’t want the Steelers sitting on these leads. That was just a very strange 4th quarter where almost every possible thing went wrong after the El TD pass, mostly in unpreventable fashion– perfectly thrown ball to TO for TD, the Ben braincramp, bad officiating calls, a very makeable missed FG, a wild deflected screen pass that bounced into Ced Benson’s hands… shit happens. I still don’t want us just falling down on the ball to run the clock, moving ahead.

After Benson caught that ball off of Farrior, I thought that the Bengals were for sure going to win the game.

Farrior, BTW, looked awesome last night.

I think that if Legursky makes his block, Mendenhall could’ve scored a TD. If Legursky just gets in the way the littlest bit, Mendenhall gets the 1st down.

Of course if Reed had made the freaking kick the Steelers win without me getting all nervous.

    I hate the Patriots
