Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– OK, it’s Friday again so let’s hear your predictions for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

– There’s a couple of new Steelers on Twitter, including Ike Taylor, Antonio Brown and William Gay. You should follow them all if you’re on Twitter. [Twitter]

– Another look at the Steelers offensive line, this time from Football Outsiders. [Football Outsiders]

–  Looking for somebody to blame for the Ravens first big pass play? Don’t blame Bryant McFadden. [Behind The Steel Curtain]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: One of Troy Polamalu’s many big plays in recent weeks…

The “Blink” reaction from many was that BMac played really poorly, but I wonder whether careful play charting and analysis would show this. BTSC says he wasn’t culpable on the first long pass. The two PIs at the end were highly debatable. And the coverage he blew on the wide-open TD was caught 9 seconds into the play (and the other receivers had 2-3 defenders around them).

Yeah – Troy overpursued on that TD, too, it looked like.

This week’s game, because it is against a divisional opponent, is probably the most important for the rest of the regular season. If we win, there’s a decent chance our last game at CLE will be meaningless.  We could lose to either the Jets or Panthers and it wouldn’t be as important.  Let’s stomp the Bengals.

ESPN uses TO’s weird mime dance after a TD against us as part of its lead in to NFL shows. It gives me perverse pleasure to see it, since we won the game and he looks like a doofus. It also reminds me of the Cheers in which Diane pretentiously pronounces it “meem” and says, “Everyone loves a meem.” Sam’s retort is, “Yeah, but everyone hates a mime.”

Also, with a win the Steelers could clinch a play-off spot.

After reading through the mock drafts, I wonder if any of you fellows think the Steelers should take a QB sometime. Batch is probably done, Leftwich could slide into that Batch role, and I am wondering what will become of Dixon. I was all for Dixon in the first four games this season, but I wonder if anybody in the Steelers org is still for him. I could see a low round pick on a QB and Dixon is let go.

I heard Ryan Clark (on 93.7?) earlier this week, taking reponsibility for the long Boldin reception. So this is not exactly news.
