Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– Hey, it’s Friday so let’s hear your predictions for Sunday’s game…

– Jim Wexell doesn’t think Heath Miller will be able to play on Sunday. Stay tuned. [Twitter]

– In addition to Heath, it sounds like Troy might be out Sunday, too. Yikes. [Post-Gazette]

– Great stuff from JJ over at FanHouse about quarterbacks facing the blitz. [JJ At FanHouse]

– Here come the Bill Cowher rumors! The latest: Bill Cowher to the Houston Texans. With that in mind, a FanHouse colleague of Ryan, JJ and myself — and a huge Texans fan — Stephanie Stradley, is a contributor to the Houston Chronicle‘s online Texans coverage and asked us to share our thoughts on Cowher as a coach. Check it out if you like. [Houston Chronicle]

– And for your random YouTube of the day: Before there was James Harrison, there was Greg Lloyd.

Ok mark me down as officially nervous….two day’s in advance…

Mark Sanchez doesn’t scare me, even with a porous secondary. We can rattle him with the rush.

The only way I see the Jets winning this game (even if we don’t have Troy or Heath) is if we give them the game. No one has run on us yet, and Sanchez hasn’t been good enough lately to beat us. So turn-overs or poor ST play are the only things that make me nervous.

That being said: NYJ 6 – PIT 13

Sanchez has had several good games this year and he can have one against the Steelers average secondary. The real problems is that the Steelers awful OL won’t be able to control all the blitzes that Ben sees. I won’t be surprised if he can’t finish this game and I don’t expect the offense to score more than 10 points on their own. This feels like a loss to me.

nice video. did anyone else notice Favre in the one highlight where GL blows up the reverse…man he HAS been playing forever!

Polamalu being out really evens the odds for me on this game. The Jets are not a juggernaut or anything but I believe they are a quality team who know this is a huge game in terms of their playoff hopes. This should be a nailbiter with BB ailing, Scott still at LT, Troy and Heath out etc.

13-10 for somebody..ST’s probably the difference.

    Rob,

Heath practiced today so he could play Sunday. But, right, losing Troy is huge. For what it’s worth, the Jets’ have bigger issues at safety than the Steelers and Revis’ has hammy issues.

That would be great if Heath plays..he could be a huge difference in this one.

I am scared of the Jets just from the motivation factor. They need this game badly. So do we but I think they are a lot more scared about their playoff chances at this point than the Steelers are.

Yep, I have no nails left already…love/hate this time of year…hee hee..

The Jets are a highly emotional team, and that’s good and bad. Look for the Jets not only to blitz a lot, but also to pass a lot. No doubt there will be for lots slants thrown to Santonio, right out of the box. And, yes, his YACs are worrisome.

Still, the Jets are a mess right now. Bottom line: Get a lead and then pound their skill players on the offense senseless. No matter how well their defense plays, the Jets will leave Pittsburgh the same way they always have.

I worry about the offensive line and Ben’s health. Steelers defense will dominate. The only chance the Jets have is if Ben gets knocked out of the game and the Jets know it.
