Morning Links (and Daily Thread)…

A quick daily look at what’s happening around Steelers Nation. And consider this your open thread for discussing the days events and, well, anything else that comes to mind about the Black and Gold.

– The Steelers were apparently working on a new trick play they had never run before heading into Saturday’s game against Baltimore. That was until ESPN’s Bob Holtzman blabbed about it (after a couple of players told him about it). The Steelers, of course, were furious, and ended up not running the play. On Wednesday, during his AFC Championship Game Press Conference, Mike Tomlin had a chance to take aim at Holtzman when he asked how difficult it would be to prepare for Rex Ryan’s defense. Some are blaming the Steelers players for telling Holtzman about the play, but it’s tough to know who is really at fault without knowing the specifics of the conversation. A lot of times players and coaches give information like that on background or off the record, and it’s understood that the information is not to be reported. Or the players could have simply blabbed without any designation. Either way, Tomlin wasn’t amused. [USA Today]
