Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Round Up: 3.0

Leading up to April’s draft we’ll take an occasional look around the web and update you on a list of mock drafts and which players people have going to the Steelers. This is the third such update. We’re searching the Internet so you don’t have to…

Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Round Up
Site Pick School (Pos.)
The Score (Sean Tomlinson) Jimmy Smith Colorado (Cornerback)
The Score (Brad Gagnon) Aaron Williams Texas (Defensive Back)
Walter Football Aaron Williams Texas (Defensive Back)
MyNFLDraft Danny Watkins Baylor (Guard)
Football’s Future Brandon Harris Miami (Cornerback)
NewNFLDraft Gabe Carimi Wisconsin (Offensive Tackle)
Mocking The Draft Steven Paea Oregon State (Defensive Tackle)
Draft King Derek Sherrod Mississippi State (Offensive Tackle
CBS (Rob Rang) Aaron Williams Texas (Defensive Back)
PFW (Nolan Nawrocki) Aaron Williams Texas (Defensive Back)

The usual suspects. It seems to be pretty much assumed that Mike Pouncey isn’t going to reach the Steelers, and frankly, I’m OK with that. There’s been some talk this week from a couple of NFL general managers (which probably means it’s nothing but smokescreens and a bunch of B.S.) that as many as five quarterbacks could go in the first round, and that would be nothing but good news for the Steelers, simply because it would allow another player they would actually want to slide down to them. The best thing that could happen for Pittsburgh on draft day is if five quarterbacks and two guards (Pouncey and Watkins) went off the board before their pick came up.

The only new name on this particular list that I haven’t seen anybody associate with the Steelers is Oregon State defensive tackle Steven Paea, who Mocking The Draft has headed to Pittsburgh as an eventual replacement for Casey Hampton.

Good stuff gentlemen..and yes it’s that time of the year – get your BS meter out….I hear Adam Gretz is moving up the charts…..

    • Warriorblitz

Not sure about that, there are some serious concerns about age with Gretz.

Wex has tweeted several times recently that if Baylor’s Phil Taylor is around at 31 (and there’s a good chance he won’t be — the Jets apparently like him) that the Steelers will pass because of how well Casey played last year.

    Wait a minute….Gabe Carimi?

I doubt he’ll fall that far, but if he does, I’d be happy for the Steelers to get him. I’d put him in the Steelers top 10.

90% of my desire for us to pick Carimi is due to that picture with the axe.

isn’t paea supposed to be too small to be able to play NT?
