Steelers Lounge Podcast #65: 49ers Recap – John Jackson

That’s right, it’s another Steelers Lounge Podcast, just in time for the holidays. And for a limited time, JJ, Adam and Ryan are on the show AT THE SAME TIME (order now!).

Okay, with that out of the way, we’re back to talk about what happened in San Francisco, and what it all means going forward. First up: the Sam Bradford-less Rams, an outfit that will likely be facing the Ben Roethlisberger-less Steelers. And I think we’re alright with that.

We also hit on the offensive line’s performance over the last month or so (Monday night notwithstanding, JJ thinks this might be Pittsburgh’s best pass-blocking unit in a long time), whether the Ravens can beat the Bengals in Week 17, if the Steelers can beat Tim Tebow in the first round of the playoffs (get comfortable because this will be a recurring storyline), and finally, what will Pittsburgh’s running game look like Sunday if MeMo and Mendenhall can’t go. John Clay? Extra heapings of Dennis Dixon? Fast Willie Parker?!

Let’s get to the chattin’…

Love me some John Sutcliffe: “So I talk to some guy… and he cannot tell me why there is power outage… or he does not WANT to tell me why there is power outage”.

What kind of an accent is that anyway, for a guy named Sutcliffe?

During the game my wife and I were guessing it was either generic eastern european or possibly (no offense to Rob D) french canadian.  Turns out he is an ESPN Deportes reporter.

I’m glad to hear that English may not be his first language. I was kinda worried he was having a stroke or something.

I agree on the weird clock management and most of all the stupid long FG attempts. Every time he does this I yell and I can’t even watch the kick. I didn’t find out he made that one 50 yarder until commercials.

It’s stupid. I wish Tomlin would learn from his mistakes.

Holy crap!  Indy just scored with less than 20 seconds to go up 3 on Houston.  If the Colts can hold on, we still have a shot at the 2 seed.

Wow indeed. All that’s missing now is a Raisin’s loss.

Santa, I’ve been a good boy, so you know what I want for Christmas…

    Go Cleveland!!!!

    THANK YOU INDY!!!!

    Looks like Batch is starting.
Hopefully the running game can pick up the slack. I expect them to, they usually run better at home.

It would be nice if the 10-4 Steelers playing at home without their starting QB could beat the 2-12 Rams on the road without their starting QB.

Now watch Lebeau put Polamalu deep and give up the short stuff all game long. Lebeau can make mediocre QB’s look competent right up to the time they throw the INT, or get sacked. IT works but its frustrating to watch at times. I tell myself it would be even more frustrating watching a 70 yard bomb connect.

Batch can’t or doesn’t throw farther than 10-15 yards and I worrry about his arm strength throwing to the sidelines etc. This could be a nail biter to the end unless we get some turnovers or defensive scores. Or a punt return/KO score. Doesn’t seem likely with this year’s team though.

        Mendenhall..you’re up, son.
