Chattin’ Thread for the Week of August 13

If it seemed like the Steelers were again cursed by the injury gods, just look around the league (or if that’s too taxing, just the AFC North) it’s going around. In that sense, Pittsburgh’s been lucky. Still, it’d be nice to have an offensive line work together for a few days in advance of playing a real game. That doesn’t look like its going to happen. Luckily, Big Ben knows the routine.

So for now, we can just concern ourselves with the things we can control: finding a way to stop Andrew Luck this weekend. Off you go…

    Just saw a Tweet from Jim Wexell that John Clay might have torn a muscle in his quadriceps (front thigh). If true, he will be lost for the season.

      And he’s been waived injured. I think he was going to end up on the outside looking in anyway, but that’s a shame. Redman, Dwyer, Rainey, Batch is plenty satisfactory and that’s without considering Mendenhall’s possible return at some point.

    …and today we learn that James Harrison may need minor surgery to correct some lingering inflammation on his knee. I wish someone would ask the team’s doctors why this wasn’t done a couple months ago.

      Harrison is really starting to scare me. I am not sure he starts the season with us which means Worilds or Carter have to step up. I’m not sure they can be adequate NFL players let alone fill the considerable shoes of Silverback.

      The last 2 years have been injury fests and the leadup to this year isn’t starting much better. And we still have 3 preseason “games” to get through.

        I think Worilds showed last year that he can be at least adequate. Of course he’s injured too.

          Yes, Worild’s is reported to be suffering from a wrist injury that may permanently impair his grip strength. You don’t have to be a doctor to know that ain’t good. I hope somebody is telling Chris Carter that “the standard is the standard.”

    I’ve been hearing all week from people in New Orleans,that the reason Mike Wallace hasn’t been in camp,is because he cant pass a drug screen.Has anyone else heard this?
