THE STANDARD IS THE STANDARD.

Weird start so far. Steelers are awarded a safety on the opening kickoff because the Titans’ return man fielded the kick just outside of the endzone and then stepped back in to take a knee. The Steelers then march fairly easily down the field, enduring the first O-line injury of the season(Pouncey), and then Redman fumbles at the goal line and Tennessee recovers.

It looked like DD was trying to throw a cut and missed and took out Pouncey??

  • calig23

I think I’ve seen enough of Redman. That’s fumble number 2. Fortunately the Steelers recovered.

    • Randy Steele

First fumble was on Ben. That was a bad hand-off caused.

      • Intropy

Partially, but that was an idiotic play call, so it’s more on Haley. 3rd and 1, so let’s try some weird pirouetting quick handoff. Or, you know, sneak for an automatic first down.

2 or 3 years ago Polamalu gets that deflection.

  • calig23

And now Ben throws a pick…

  • David

First post of the year: we better hope this is first game rustiness or we’re in for a long year

  • David

Pouncey off to the hospital for MRI. Ugh.

  • Rob D

Man. ARe they going to take the heat after this one…lol..4 sacks on Ben already, fumbles, 2 pts…INT. IF we had an O-line, we’d be dangerous with this QB. Unfortunately , we DON”T.

  • Randy Steele

I have no adjectives to describe how bad this offensive line is.

  • Cols714

Wow. Good thing we fired Bruce Arians. Dumbest move ever. Haley is horrible

  • djanyreason

Is it really the OL? The Titans are sending extra rushes every pay it seems, covering us 1-on-1 and we can’t compete a pass.

  • Cols714

    Bring back Arians.

  • countertorque

Ok. Everyone else was right. This team is bad. Running game is in mid season form (can we cut Redman now?). No pass blocking. Ben is slower and can’t escape as well. Defense gives up long drives with no turnovers.

  • Rob D

Tied for the division lead!! Woo hoooo..

It’s only one game but we lost 2 starters..our best Oline guy and the signal caller on D. A team that seems paper thin in confidence (especially on O) could spiral out of control and lose games in bunches. It’s the flip side of having a lot of young guys..hope they can right the ship. Tomlin hit Haley in the chest? Is that what happened? I watched via an up and down stream on the net. Mostly down..lol

Pouncey and Foote done for the year. Knee and biceps injury, respectively. So there’s that.

    • Randy Steele

Dollars to doughnuts, that was Larry Foote’s last game as a Steeler.

  • Randy Steele

An offensive performance worthy of Kent Graham. A hearty congratulations to everyone involved.

    • Rob D

Woh..Randy is pulling out the Kent CARd! I’m honoured to be here to witness it. And I can only join in with my this reaction shot..the much overused but somehow approprate Orson clap..

  • David

I know injuries happen, but WTF? We looked like a bunch of old men out there, every other play, someone hurt. WTF?

  • Cols714

It’s Haley. His offense does not work with Ben. Arians at least had routes that got people open.

Yeesh, we fired a good OC and hired a horrible fit.

    • Rob D

In other news, LSH tore up his ACL. Suisham is gone “for a few weeks”.. quite possible we lose 3 important pieces for the year ..Game 1 was expensive. Pouncey, Foote and Stephens-Howling with Sushy down for a few..hope they don’t rush back Bell…

      • Randy Steele

When I heard the Steelers’ offensive line was going to switch its scheme to a ZBS this year, I thought it meant the “Zone Blocking Scheme.”

My mistake: Apparently they meant, the “Zero Blocking Scheme.”
