Let's hope this doesn't slow him down or have any long term effects!

After seeing the replay several times I'm still confused how Manny got hurt. And in the end, it turned out to be a pretty big injury.

Given Sanders' injury and Woodson's broker collarbone, apparently Jerry imported the old Veterans' Stadium turf for the game. I wouldn't put it past him ...

Also CBS Sports says that the Post-gazette is reporting that Ben won't have surgery on his foot 'for now'. The Rapid Reports section says:

"QB Ben Roethlisberger won’t require surgery on his right foot “as of now,” the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday. The slight fracture, suffered in childhood and first detected in 2007, healed over with fibers that were sprained twice this season – causing him to wear a bigger shoe with a steel-plate insert."

For some reason I can't find this on the Post-Gazette's own website.

Ryan, I agree. I was bracing to see something nasty on the replay of Sanders injury and I didn't see much at all.

As for Ben, I wish they could just fix that problem once and for all with surgery, but it doesn't seem like that will happen.

It was kinda surreal to see one player after the other walking dejectedly to the locker room with an injury. And most of the time the injuries occurred because of hard falls which isn't very common with modern day turf.

Ryan, thank you for trying different thread formats. I appreciate the responsiveness and innovation.

FWIW, I like the weekly open thread more than the message board format. Seems simpler to use.
